Rector’s greeting

For more than 80 years St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation (SUAI) has been one of the country’s and the world’s leading scientific and educational institutions in the field of aerospace complexes, control systems and latest educational technologies.

Born in the difficult early forties of the last century the Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instrumentation in the first years of its existence has earned a reputation as a serious technical university that trains highly qualified specialists for the domestic industry.

This high status, rightfully inherited by SUAI, remains at the present time. In the 21st century, in a changing economic environment, the University managed to reorganize itself and turned from a closed industry institute into a major international scientific and educational center. At the same time, SUAI managed not to lose any of the traditional fields keeping a unique educational profile — the aerospace instrumentation.

However, today SUAI is not only about space and aviation, the University added a broad range of new areas: robotics, photonics, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, quantum technologies, machine learning and much, much more.

In 2017, the University signed a cooperation agreement with the Young Professionals Union (WorldSkills Russia) and became the first participant in the FutureSkills (Professions of the Future) Initiative in St. Petersburg aimed at advanced training and creation of future-oriented professions. In addition to the development of the main educational process, the University implements a number of new projects.

For example, in 2020 the University opened the Boiling point — St. Petersburg. SUAI. — an urban networking space. This is a unique federal project that creates modern conditions for various communities that can implement their ideas. At Boiling point, the University will also develop programs related to the professions of the future and focused on the high-tech industry. We are always glad to meet new students and partners.
