Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies in Metrology named after Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Valentinovich Okrepilov opened in SUAI
On March 1, on the day of the VI International Forum on Metrological Support of Innovative Technologies, SUAI hosted the opening of the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies in Metrology named after Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Valentinovich Okrepilov.
Opening the new educational space, the rector of SUAI Yulia Antokhina noted:
– The appearance of a new laboratory can be a point of growth for students. It is very significant that today we are naming this laboratory after Vladimir Valentinovich Okrepilov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honorary Citizen of St. Petersburg, President of the Metrological Academy. Vladimir Valentinovich devoted his whole life to issues related to metrology and standardization. Cooperating with our university for about 20 years, the scientist heads the Department of Metrological Support of Innovative Technologies and Industrial Safety of the SUAI Institute of Fundamental Training and Technological Innovations, works with undergraduates and graduate students, thereby giving the opportunity to continue scientific school.
The Rector stressed that Vladimir Valentinovich Okrepilov had made a huge contribution to the development of metrology in our country. The scientist is one of the founders of a new scientific field of economics – the economics of quality; head of the scientific school for the study of problems of the economics of quality and its relationship with key areas of socio-economic development of society;he is also the author and co-author of more than 800 scientific works.
Vladimir Valentinovich Okrepilov also addressed the audience with the following words:
– This is a very joyful moment for me. I think that the school of metrology at SUAI is one of the strongest in the country. The textbook called Fundamentals of Metrology was created here, and an entire generation used it to study. We were the first to publish the monograph on Economics of Metrology, where we justified the economic impact of metrology both on society as a whole and on individual sectors of its economy. A textbook on Digital Metrology was published here for the first time in the country. It is very important to hold this forum on metrology at the SUAI site, it unites everyone – students, postgraduates, specialists, scientists. The laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies in Metrology is equipped with everything necessary and will become a necessary platform for students.
At the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies in Metrology named after Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Valentinovich Okrepilov, students will work on computers designed for machine learning and the creation of software interfaces for SCADA systems. The latest equipment will make it possible to implement ideas for the creation of training stands, automation of experimental installations, and modernization of laboratories.
