The first part of the SUAI-PSU Summer School program completed

On June 21, students of the Euphrosyne Polotskaya State University of Polotsk completed their studies at SUAI

During the week, PSU students studied in the laboratories of the SUAI Engineering School. They learned how to create algorithms and codes for controlling robots, work in computer modeling programs, assemble and mount industrial robotic systems.

At the closing of the Summer School, the participants shared their impressions. For many PSU students, the study program turned out to be different from their main field of study. However, this fact did not prevent them from diving into new professional areas.

– I really enjoyed the training, I had not practiced robotics before, since I have a different major. Summer school is a great chance to distract yourself and spend time usefully during the session. I don't have much experience in programming, but I'm very passionate about this area. We have been programming in Python, and I would like to learn it in the future. I also really liked St. Petersburg — a beautiful city, a lot of cool architecture and sights," PSU student Alexander Popov shared his impressions.

– Most of all, I liked working with manipulators, since I had not seen such machines in production before and had not met them on the Internet. When I first saw the remote control and a lot of buttons, I found it confusing. But after the teacher explained everything to me, I managed to write a full-fledged program so that this device could weld. This can be done in any plane, and the coordinates will be transferred – I was very surprised that this is feasible. If I plan to implement my project, now I know how to model it and how to explain partners how the product will be produced," said Valery Shulyak, a student at PSU.

The classes were conducted in the format of working in small project groups of 2-3 people. Alexander Rysin, Head of the Robotics Laboratory, Sergey Babchinetsky, Head of the Laboratory of New Production Technologies, Sergey Lach, Head of the Power Machines — SUAI student design Bureau , and Anton Saveliev, Head of the Engineering Garage Department, interacted with the students.

After completing the Summer School, PSU students received certificates of study, they were awarded by Galina Peshkova, Vice-rector for the Development of the University Complex, and Yana Shvets, director of the SUAI Engineering School.

– It is very valuable for us that after the Summer School you will be able to determine your further educational and professional trajectories more accurately, and you will understand more clearly in which direction to move, – Yana Shvets, Director of the SUAI Engineering School, addressed the students of PSU.

During the second part of the Summer School program SUAI students will visit Polotsk State University. The training will begin next week.
